that’s my new lullaby to johann.  he first heard me singing it when we attended a mass in robinsons near sta lucia east mall.  nagulat ako at tahimik sya.  he was listening pala.  so one time i sang it again to him, after ko mag-sing sya naman. nakakatuwa, though mali yung lyrics nya tama naman yung tono.

The Garden Guard

Both my parents, Hungarian immigrants, were born with green thumbs.  Our family of ten depended on the food we grew in our huge vegetable garden.  My mother canned much of the produce for winter, and my father sold potatoes and cabbage to the local stores and high schools.  Our garden was the pride of the neighborhood.

But then, one summer when I was quite young, we had a problem.  Someone was stealing some of our vegetables.  My parents were dumbfounded.  “I don’t get it,” my father said.  “If someone wants vegetables from us, all they have to do is ask.  If they can’t afford to pay for them, they could just have them.”

Then one of the neighbors tipped us off that an old bachelor who lived a short distance from us was seen selling some vegetables in a nearby town.  It didn’t take long for my parents to put two and two together.  Benny did not have a garden.  So he was obviously getting his vegetables from someone else’s garden.

Now, Benny was not a bad old fellow.  My dad often hired him for haying and other odd jobs just to help him out.  Benny had no steady job and lived in a small cabin that looked rather bleak to me.  My parents figured he was taking our vegetables to earn a few extra dollars.  But stealing is stealing, and it just isn’t right.  My father decided to handle this situation his own way.

“I’m going to hire Benny,” he announced one day.

after a very late lunch at leslie’s last april 15 we went straight to ek.  mga 5pm kmi dumating dun. since may promo sila that time, we got 2 free tickets. 

i was a disappointed kse limited lang ang pwede namin sakyan mag-ina.  we tried riding the airplane kso dapat daw ang kasama nya na sasakay eh bata rin.  he would have enjoyed the wheel of fate kso di pa sya allowed.  kainis.  he was crying when he saw na sumakay sila tajhing tapos kmi hindi.  tagal din bago ko sya napatahan.  we went back na lang sa train, dun sa egg and sa dinosaurs.  then paulit-ulit na lang kmi sa carousel.  nung mga 8pm dapat uwi na kmi kso sabi ni tajhing mag last ride daw kmi sa rio grande rapids.  so hinatid ko muna sila mama and johann kay papa sa sasakyan *~di na kse pumasok papa ko sa loob~* .  i was with tajhing, didi, momi, tata, and rexy.  duwag si jhong, ayaw sumama sa amin.  we waited long kse ang haba ng pila.  when it was our turn,  ang pwesto namin, ako, si momi and rexy sa isang side, while tata, tajhing and didi on the other.  mali pala ang napwestuhan ko.  since malaki si momi, mabigat sa side namin, kaya kami tuloy ang basang-basa.  we were laughing the whole time.  eh since soaked kmi ni momi, we had to buy their overpriced shorts there.  buti na lang may extra shirt pa ako and si momi naman nag-jacket na lang pauwi.  kailangan ko kse magpalit kse kakalong sa akin si johann kse mag-sleep na sya.  after namin mag-palit, we waited na rin for their fireworks.  after nun we went out na and i was expecting na tulog na si johann eh gising pa pala. he saw the fireworks daw kso ayaw nya pabuksan yung window ng sasakyan,  maingay kse.

as i’ve said i was not satisfied.  next year na siguro kmi babalik dun or depende kung may manlilibre .

sweet and kulit

sweet:

lately, pag sinabi ko “i love you johann” he responds with ” i love you mommy”.  haay… pang tanggal pagod talaga.

kulit:

last weekend di kami nag-sleep sa house *~next time na ang kwento~* tinuruan ng tita ko ng “mommy, ayaw ko sama”.  tawa ako ng tawa nung narinig ko.  ang sagot ko naman sa kanya “anak, wala kang choice”

this past few weeks laging busy ang status message ng ym ko. busy ako sa preparations nung pina-plano ko and loaded din ako sa work. may mga tech specs na dapat nung june pa dapat i-deliver eh di ko pa naumpisahan.  may mga nasingit kse na prd issues na kailangan i-address agad and old programs na lately lang nag UAT eh ang tagal ko ng na-endorse for testing yun at may changes pa sila. haay.  bahala na si batman.
