saved by the pillow

August 23, 2006

last july 23, around 3am i heard a thug and faint cry. with only a dim light i sat up and looked at johann’s crib, he’s not there!  the first thing i thought was that he climbed out of his crib.  *~we added kse a 4-inch thick foam mattress to his crib~* then i remembered that earlier he woke up crying so i picked him up from his crib and let him sleep beside me in bed. i threw all the pillows he’s still not there. i checked the left side of the bed thank goodness he’s not there *~this side is higher than the other side~*. i checked the other side and he’s there lying quietly with his eyes open *~maybe he’s wondering what happened~* on top of a pillow, thank GOD. my son’s guardian angel came to the rescue that morning.

i never thought that this would happen to johann. mama always warned me about this. she’s scared that johann might fall on the left side of the bed.  i told rudney about it, he was worried but i assured him that johann is okay.  so that night, mama and my tita fixed our room. they put the foam mattress on the floor on the elevated side of the room and the bedframe on the lower side. i just borrowed my younger sisters’ foam for our bed in case johann climb on it *~which he actually did, he jumped on it and tried to reach the stand fan~*.

last saturday my uncle and cousin accompanied me to uratex in sfdm.  i bought a 6-inch thick permahard foam mattress with cover.  good thing they are on sale. i got the foam with cover, a basket *~for johann’s toys in our room~* and shower baskets for only 4000, i charged it all to my credit card *~sayang ang miles ;) ~*.

now johann is free to roam around our room *~though its not yet fully child proofed~* . he loves jumping on the mattress, open the closets and remove his floor puzzle.  good thing he can’t reach the door knob yet. which reminds me, i need to look for a stairway/door gate soon.

relaxing

August 19, 2006

had a body scrub and a massage last wedenesday.  haay.. sarap.

it’s been 2 years since i went to a spa.  i was planning to have one next week but since arnie invited lhen to go to a spa i went with them na lang. the next day after office we met at city lifestyle spa in qc.  i like this spa because their facilities are nice, their massage is great and their common room is like a vip room except that there’s no private shower (unlike in others that i’ve tried where their common room is one big room with several beds).  lhen and i availed the harmony package– body salt scrub, swedish massage and a hair spa {lhen bought a hair spa cream and we used it inside the sauna. :P  }  while arnie had a swedish massage only {late kse… :P }.

afterwards we had dinner at don henricos.  we had pasta, pizza and chicken {syempre buffalo wings… yumyumyum… :P }

lhen and i plan to do this monthly.  care to join us? :P

favorite vcds

August 15, 2006

among johann’s vcd, these are his favorites.  he learned so many things from his vcds. his pedia adviced us not to let him watch too much.  average time should be 2 hours per week. in johann’s case that’s his minimum in a day. oh well…

sesame-street.JPG

his other vcds include servant of all kids, kids karaoke, musikang pambata, and many more.  he also have this alphabet for special kids which mama bought.  the latest addition to his collecton is elmocize.

currently he likes watching hi5 at nickelodeon.  i haven’t bought a cd yet coz its a bit pricey. wait ko na lang mag-sale. hehehe…

singapore!

August 15, 2006

an overdue post.  medyo mahaba.  kung tamad kyo magbasa view nyo na lang yung pictures.

we’ve been to Singapore last july 12-16.  i was hesitant at first kung tutuloy kmi.  punta kse si ate jhing sa singapore for a seminar, sabi ni mama sama na rin daw kmi kse sayang yung libreng hotel then pagdating ng weekend lipat na lang kmi sa cheaper hotel.  check ko rates ng Tiger Airways aba! they are offering 50% off when you book between june 5-11 and fly from july 1-31. i asked rudney’s permission kung oks lang, eh pumayag, so book ko na sya agad :D .

july 12. we arrived sa budget terminal ng singapore around 4pm. we left the airport around 5:30 para i-meet na lang kmi ni ate jhing sa lobby ng Pan Pacific.  ganda ng hotel, parang sarap tumira dun.  hehehe… anyways, mga 6:30pm dumating c arnie (morninggirls) sa hotel then wait namin c mira (morninggirls din) sa lobby.  treat nila kmi for dinner sa Lau Pa Sat. mga past 10pm na kmi naghiwalay, c arnie kse uwi ng manila the next day and c mira wait na sya ng family nya.  so kmi nila mama, tajhing and johann nag stroll muna dun. kakalakad namin nakarating kmi sa merlion park.  so picture picture muna.  then walk again papuntang esplanade, picture picture ulit.  then walk again papuntang marina square, finally nakarating din kmi sa hotel. past 12 na ata yun. pagod kmi sobra. sleep na kmi.

july 13. before 10am na kmi nakaalis ng hotel papuntang Singapore Zoo. eh tulog c johann pagdating namin dun so nag-lunch muna kmi ni mama sa kfc.  ala silang rice and gravy, side dishes and ketchup ang replacement.  after lunch, i bought the ticket and sakto naman pagpasok namin nagising na c johann. we rode the tram tpos cguro nung 3rd stop bumaba na kmi. i didn’t get to take a picture of all the animals. nakakatuwa si johann kse ang dami nyang kilalang animals.  we also watched yung animal friends show sa ampitheater nila. ang highlight nung show eh yung 2 sealions. other animals na nandun sa show are monkey, snake and may isa pa na di ko maala yung name.  after nun dapat punta kmi sa Mandai Orchid Garden kso pagod na si mama. bumalik na lang kmi ng hotel. nag-rest then we went sa Marina Square para mag-grocery. i was supposed to meet joan (amabarkada97) sa mall kso late na daw sya makakaalis ng office so saturday night na lang daw since mag-night safari kmi ng friday so we went back sa hotel. we asked tajhing to call yung sa reception kung offer cla ng day tour papunta malaysia, kung meron kse punta sana kmi eh wala daw though sabi madali lang daw pumunta, ala pang 1 hr eh nasa Johor Bahru na. eh gusto ko puntahan yung Petronas. 3 hrs mahigit daw byahe kya wag na lang tsaka nag-alangan din ako kse may kasama kmi bata. ayaw na ni mama pumunta ng Jurong Bird park the next day so mag orchard road na lang kmi. tingin na lang kmi ng mga pang-pasalubong.

july 14. we decided not to transfer hotel anymore. hassle din kse maglipat ng gamit, nagka-tamaran na kmi.  di kmi natuloy sa orchard kse ang lakas sobra ng ulan. di namin makita yung mga katabing buildings. nagpatila lang kmi ng ulan tpos magpunta na lang sa Suntec City Mall.  tingnan namin kung open yung Fountain of Wealth.  mag-cab sana kmi papunta, buti na lang mabait yung in charge sa taxi queue, tinuro na lang nya sa amin paano pumunta dun by foot. lapit lang sobra sa hotel, naka-connect pala sya sa marina square. hindi pa open yung ibang stores eh mag-11am na nun. so try namin hinanap yung fountain, nakita namin kso close pa sya. nakita ko yung Duck Tour.  sabi ko kay mama try namin since naka-upo lang naman kmi during the tour tsaka na-curious ako kse dami nakapila. while waiting for our schedule we went dun sa toy strore dun sa suntec. ang laki nya, bigger than the toy kingdom sa megamall. wala naman ako nabili kse mahal pa rin sya.  so we went back dun sa meeting place para sa tour.  we rode the “duck” sa labas ng suntec.  nung nasa river kmi nakita namin yung Esplanade, Merlion Park and yung hotel na tallest daw before ngayon hindi na.  nung nasa land na kmi nakita naman namin yung Civilian War Memorial, St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Raffles Hotel, and others (ngayon ko lang na-realize na yun din yung mga nakikita ko from our hotel room)  1 hr lang yung tour okay rin, di naman boring kse lively naman yung tour guide. ang naalala ko lang sa kwento ng tour guide eh sweldo ng singapore president eh nasa SGD200,000+ a month, ang may sariling bahay daw dun eh well-off talaga and para mag-karoon ka ng car dun you have to pay SGD10,000 as registration fee.  after ng tour nag lunch kmi sa marina square, as usual kfc ulit, ayaw kse ni mama mag-try ng di namin kilalang food baka masayang lang daw. went back to the hotel to wait for ate jhing kse punta kmi ng Night Safari. before kmi nag-night safari we went muna sa Funan IT Mall to do some shopping. wala ako nabili except for rechargeable batteries. we ate dinner at Swensen’s. medyo pricey ang food.  we arrived sa night safari past 10pm na and tulog na si johann.  the cab driver told us not to stay beyond 11:30 so that we wont have a hard time getting a cab. malayo kse sya sa city. we rode the tram, since hindi allowed ang flash photography wala kmi masyado pictures sa loob.  we left mama and johann sa isang bench and check namin ni ate jhing yung walking trails. nakakatakot kse nandun yung fear ko na baka may biglang sumulpot na hayop sa harap namin tapos ang dilim pa. pagbalik namin kina mama nagising si johann and ayaw na kmi paalisin so we went out na lang and dun kmi nagpa-picture.  mama bought souvenirs for her friends while i bought something for dra. eileene (pedia) and alyn (pedia sec). then we went home na.

july 15.  we prepared early since we’re going to Sentosa.  we rode the cable car from Mt. Faber.  takot na takot si mama. she asked me kung eto lang daw ba ang way papunta dun, sabi ko hindi, pwede naman kaming mag-bus. tawa kmi ng tawa kmi ni ate jhing, walanghiya daw kming magkapatid. papatayin daw namin sya sa nerbiyos. hahaha… pagdating namin sentosa, we rode the Carlsberg Sky Tower to view yung buong sentosa. next we went to the Underwater World. ilang beses kmi umikot. natutuwa ako sa dun sa mga jellyfish na maliliit. after nun we ate lunch then we went to Dolphin Lagoon. pagdating namin maaga so nakapili kmi ng seat.  After 45 mins, nag-start na yung show, ang gagaling ng mga dolphins, nakakatuwa. yung father ng dalawang dolphin pink pero yung mga anak nya medyo gray na.  after the show we went to find the Sentosa Orchid Gardens. di namin makita nung una. Nakarating kmi sa Fountain Gardens eh wala namang show so nagpa-picture kmi.  nung aalis na kmi tsaka namin nakita yung way papunta sa garden. konti lang yung flowers, hindi ata season pero magaganda naman. after nun nag-snack kmi sa delifrance then wait namin yung bus palabas ng sentosa.  we rode the mrt to orchard. shopping naman. as usual wala na naman ako nabili. we went back sa hotel para ihatid si mama and johann.  rest kmi ni tajhing sandali then punta ulit kmi ng mall sa may raffles. walk lang kmi papunta dun. wala naman ako nabili. pagbalik sa hotel, nasa sahig na yung bag and yung ibang gamit, time na mag-pack kse uwi na kmi the next day.

july 16. we woke up early kse maaga flight namin. we left the hotel around 9 am. si ate jhing late check-out pa. after check-in we had lunch and did some shopping inside, konti lang stores dun. maganda yung budget terminal ha, may free internet access sya. didn’t get to use it kse walang available.  sabi nga ni arnie (on which i agree) eh mas maganda ang budget terminal ng singapore kaysa sa naia. sayang nga di ko nakuhanan ng picture. we arrived sa clark around past 4pm na. medyo delayed yung flight kse they tried to wait for the indian passengers.

for sure babalik kmi dun. madami pa kming hindi napuntahan. baka next time singapore-malaysia na. hehehe… wishing… :P

comfort zone and new horizon

August 1, 2006

i got this forwarded email from beng (elitegroup97).  i’ve been in this position for so long.  wala lang, it just made me think na parang time na ata to get out of this comfort zone.

A trainer in a training session of young executives, began by drawing a diagram of a stick man standing in the middle of a circle. To make it more interesting, he drew things like a house, a car, and a few friends inside the circle.

He asked the question “Can anyone tell me what this is?”

After a long silence, one guy said “the world?”

The trainer said “That’s close, this is your Comfort Zone. Inside your circle you have all the things that are important to you. Your home, your family, your friends, and your job. People feel that inside this circle they are safe from any danger or conflict.

Can anyone tell me what happens when you step out of this circle?”

A strong silence came over the room.

The same eager guy abruptly announced “You are afraid”.

Another guy said “You make mistakes”.

The silence continued & the trainer smiled and said “When you make mistakes what can the result be?”

The first guy shouts “You learn something.”

“Exactly, you are learning.” The trainer turned to the board and drew an arrow pointing from the stick man directly to the outside of the circle. He proceeded to say “When you leave your Comfort Zone you put yourself out there, in front of the world to be in a situations that you are not comfortable with. The end result is that you have learned something that you did not already know, you expand your knowledge to become a better person.”

He turned again to the board and drew a bigger circle around the original circle, and added a few new things like more friends, a bigger house etc.

Thus if one stays inside one’s Comfort Zone, one will never be able to expand one’s horizons and learn.  Moving out of one’s Comfort Zone makes a bigger circle and a wider horizon……….
